“The Only Difference Between a Good Workout and a Great Workout; is your ATTITUDE”
My fitness journey started just over 20 years ago, while I was serving in the military. During my 3 years in the Army, I learned the importance of exercise and discipline and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Since then I have continued to stay active and regularly exercise. Not only did I apply what I learned in the military about exercise to my own personal fitness goals, I also started to train individual clients to share my exercise style and disciplined approach with them.
In 2003 I achieved a life-long ambition and became a New York City Firefighter. Unfortunately, in 2009, while fighting a fire, I fell and cracked my vertebrae in my lower back. I underwent major spinal surgery and had to have rods and screws inserted into my back. To say it was a long road to recovery, is an understatement! However, I made it through thanks to 2 important factors: I had kept myself in good physical shape prior to the injury and I maintained a strong, focused mindset as I pursued a full recovery. I am currently living pain free and continue to exercise daily.
My injury and recovery reinforced for me that it is vital to keep fit and keep an upbeat, positive attitude. I had to retire from the FDNY but transitioned to full-time personal training. I’ve been a Certified Personal Trainer for almost a decade and have worked for major fitness corporations and managed gym operations for 2 separate locations.
Today, I have combined my knowledge of fitness, my discipline and my personal understanding of injury and pain to create personalized, custom workout regimens for each of my clients. I believe in creating a solid physical foundation by focusing on your fitness goals and working with you to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
I am so gratified that my back injury opened a window of opportunity for me to put everything together to help others get – and stay – physically fit. I genuinely enjoy helping people achieve their goals through exercise. And, I believe in educating my clients so that one day they will have the motivation, knowledge, and confidence to be able to train on their own safely & effectively.
